Unwind Stands from Double E

Double E unwind roll stands are pre-configured for easy integration into any converting process to upgrade or replace old or inefficient winding stations, or to add a new unwind station to an existing machine. These stands are packaged with all accessories working together, and warrantied by a single supplier. Prices for new equipment from Double E are often lower than comparable used equipment.

Shafted Unwind Roll Stands

Double E has manufactured hundreds of unwind stands to suit a wide variety of applications. Whether you need a light duty cantilevered unwind stand, or a heavy duty reinforced stand for an aggressive application, Double E has the experience to design and build exactly what is needed to meet the operating specifications.

The triple unwind stand (bottom right) is an excellent example of Double E's customization expertise. This stand is a unique design that was engineered for a producer of laminated film. The customer needed a more efficient method for manufacturing a five-layered material. Since the customer already had three individual stands, Double E engineered this stand to replace one of those single unwind stands to give them a total of five unwind sections. This stand consisted of a control panel with three tension controllers, safety chucks holding three DG-2000 aluminum bladder shafts and regulated with load cells and pneumatic brakes.

Drop-In Unwind Modules

Double E can also offer drop-in or bolt-on modules to upgrade existing machines. 

As an example, this custom module was created for a supplier of plastic sheets and roll stock. The customer needed a bolt-on double unwind stand with closed loop tension controls and load cell frames for regulating tension.

This stand consisted of two DG-2000 aluminum bladder shafts held by four safety chucks and regulated by two pneumatic brakes.

Solution "S" - Open Loop Tension Control

Suitable when simple monitoring of roll diameter is enough to adjust tension. It is especially economical if the web path will allow for the A-frame only (without the optional exit roller stand). Base price includes A-frame, 60” - 100” web width, 40” max roll diameter, steel “Dyna–Grip” lug shaft, Double E EE250 pneumatic brake, SP11 safety chucks, one exit roller, and an open loop tension control system.

Options/Upgrades: web guiding, "Dura–Light" carbon fiber lug shaft, 60" max roll diameter, web width < 60" or > 100", exit roller stand and extra roller.
